Imes Group Ltd.
I have been a Non Executive Director on the group board of Imes since 2000. The Imes Group Board is leading the rapid growth of this industrial and marine engineering services company based in Aberdeen. Focus is to maximise the return from the three different businesses it is in by developing each separately either on its own or in partnership. Turnover has already been more than trebled since 2000 to £14 million with over 200 employees worldwide. The owner uses his non executives very creatively and we have extra responsibilities beyond that of a normal non executive to help with strategy development, change management and ensure that the vision, objectives, and principles of the business are followed throughout the group. In my time with Imes I have lead strategy formulation and structures for both the UK and US operations which are now implemented and in the areas of marketing and Human Resources where we have created an innovative learning environment within the company. I also acted as Chair of one of the three business within the group in the US and UK to deliver the value for the business. I have also acquired two businesses for the group I have now moved to a more normal Non Executive role for the business and Chair the Audit Committee. I also am involved in various CBI functions on behalf of the company.
