Scottish Executive Expert Group on Corporate Homicide
In 2006 was asked to represent the CBI on of a
small group appointed by the Justice Minister in Scotland
to examine what changes if any need to be made to criminal
law in Scotland to take account of Corporate Homicide. The
group lasted for four months and could not agree on an
outcome but published a paper for the Minister which
highlighted the areas of agreement and disagreement. While
this was a difficult group to be part of in terms of the
varying and quite diverse views held by its members we were
able still to work together at a personal level without
acrimony so were able to keep common sense within our
deliberations. The report was
agreed by the Minister but in the end nothing could be
done as the matter was deemed to be reserved not
devolved.
